If you look at most motor home, camper van or RV blogs on the internet they involve a couple (usually older, retired and who have raised a family who have fledged the nest) embarking on a new adventure and going travelling around their country, or indeed other countries documenting their experiences along the way. These types of stories and adventures fascinate me, however they are so distant from my life (and I suspect the life of many others) I find it impossible to really connect with these blogs.
I would love to be writing a blog about disappearing off in a motor home for months, even years, however this isn’t going to happen any time soon. Maybe in thirty four years’ time, when I retire (if I am still around by then of course), I will be in a position to start one of these blogs but until that time, I can’t even begin to think about such a journey.
My wife and I work full time and we have a mortgage to pay down. We spend the week days in the office and the week day nights doing the standard household chores, leaving the weekend’s for fun (providing all the chores are done and there is no gardening or DIY projects to undertake of course). We are a typical average couple with a normal life who have just bought a motor home. With this in mind I can’t think of any better reason than to start a new blog.
My intention with Motor home-mayhem is to try and create a different type of motor home blog, and one that the typical (if there is such a thing) motor home owner can relate to. I will of course include little stories about my travels and where I have been in the motor home, but this is not going to be the focus of this blog as I a plan to include anything and everything motor home related.
Being known as the “Victor Meldrew” of the office there will be venting posts, there will be travel related posts, there will be serious posts, there will be funny posts, there will be campsite review posts, there will be camping cuisine and food posts, and there will be general motor home rambling posts. One thing there won’t be is tutorial type posts – being a total newbie to motor homes I know nothing, although I have a feeling I am going to learn quite quickly, so if you are looking for some detailed or technical answer to a problem, you aren’t going to find it on any of my pages – sorry.
I want Motor home-mayhem to be an interactive blog and invite and encourage anyone who reads it to comment as they see fit. If you don’t agree with me (I know of several people who regularly don’t and I am sure there will be thousands of others in the world the same) let me know and please do offer your thoughts/opinions – I am more than willing to read and learn something new. If you have a different way/better way of doing things please note them down. Whatever you have to offer please do jump in and contribute (please don’t be too offensive though – I am not that thick skinned).
