There is something about Victorian coastal towns and resorts that excites me, and I really can’t put my finger on it. Most of these coastal towns and resorts popular with the Victorians are run-down, dated and not that great but to me they have a certain charm about them.
One coastal town I have wanted to visit ever since I can remember is Blackpool however I have never had the opportunity. Living in the South East Black Pool is a fair hike up the country and not somewhere I could easily get to. My parents never shared my love of coastal towns so family vacations were always in land and never on the coast.
Our 2018 UK adventure in the motor home involves heading over to the North West coast and I have managed to convince my better half to go to Black Pool, and we are staying right in the heart of the action. Yep, I am staying in Black Pool in the motor home, and I can’t wait. I had been looking for a campsite within close walking distance to Black Pool for a while and I could never find one, and had it not been for an episode of “Bargain Loving Brits in Black Pool” I doubt I would never have found one.
Whilst watching “Bargain Brits in Blackpool” (yeah I watch quality TV) I saw Hampton Road Social Club Campsite which is within walking distance of Black Pool sea front. The site itself didn’t look like the type of camp site we usually use, but the location was perfect. Besides, I had to reach a compromise with the other half to get to Black Pool in the first instance (she’s not overly keen on Victorian coastal towns) in that the visit would be no more than 2 nights, being one night to set up and sort ourselves out, a day out exploring Black Pool, a night time visit to Black Pool and off somewhere else the next day. A single day exploring the sites of Black Pool was fine with me so staying 2 nights at Hampton Road Social Club Campsite was more than I needed.
After contacting the campsite I am happy to report there is a pitch available for 2 nights during our motor home adventure, and that I am coming to Black Pool baby!
